Immerse Yourself in ESL

F-1 International
Student Programs

Gateway is an intensive ESL immersion program that uses cutting-edge teaching methods.  Each semester is 16 weeks.  Two semesters make one academic year.  At the end of one academic year most students take a one semester vacation.  Others continue to study.

Traditional semesters.  Students may study during traditional semesters, which begin three times each year.

Open enrollment.  For those who wish to begin their studies other than during traditional semesters, enrollment is open and students may enter the program at the beginning of any two-week block
After successful completion of 1 academic year or program (two semesters), students may:

Many of our students, after passing the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL), seek entrance to an American college or university.  Others return home with their newly acquired English skills to command a much higher income.

Gateway Class Schedule. Students or visitors who wish to study less than one a full semester, may do so by signing up for one or more blocks of instruction (let us know the exact date you wish to end classes so we can indicate this on the I-20 we will send you).  Since all of our course work is taught in 2-week blocks, you may begin and end when you choose.  You will study the same basic curriculum that long-term students are studying.  With convenient starting dates every 2 weeks, it is easy to plan a trip and take some courses with us.

For individuals who are in the U.S. with a visa other than the F-1, U.S. law allows you to take courses part-time (less than 18 hours per week).  However, you may not sign up for a full course of study.

TOEFL and College Preparation.  International students who enter Nomen Global at an advanced level of English skill, or those who successfully complete our level 5, may enter our TOEFL and College Preparation courses.  TOEFL Practice Electives may be taken as soon as you enter Level 4.
Your English level.  Prior to beginning any of our courses, you will take a placement test to help determine the level that is most appropriate for you.  Click here to see a course level flow chart showing the progression through the 6 levels of English proficiency.
